My Trip to a Acadia
I had a trip planned to California for late spring/early summer of 2020. I usually go out west before I get super busy with weddings. I had intended to fly to San Francisco, stay there for a few days, and then head east to Yosemite. After Yosemite I was to drive through the Sierra Nevada mountain range (taking a few days) and probably end up in Joshua Tree and/or Anza-Borrego. But like everything else in 2020 I had to put that trip on hold.
I decided when things got a little better in New York, I would go to Acaida National Park. It’s a place I didn’t know much about but have always wanted to visit based on photos I’ve seen. My thinking is since I would be driving, being on my own, and being out in nature that it would be a safe trip to take this year.
I wasn’t sure what to expect at Acadia. Things I have seen on Youtube or have read about is that it’s one of the most visited National Parks in the US. I was thinking that it might be pretty empty because of Covid. But there were a ton of people but according to locals and a few people that I met, it wasn’t crowded at all. I can’t imagine what it would be like in the peak of summer during normal times, I’d probably wouldn’t enjoy as much. Also, the rest of Mt. Desert Island is more populated than I imagined.
However it is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking places I have visited on the East Coast. I’m so glad that I took this trip. I hope to visit Acadia again during the fall season. Maybe next year?
So here are some of my photos from my trip. I decided to bring my Mamiya 7 and 7II (2 bodies so that I didn’t have to worry about finishing a roll that I had on during sunset for the next day) and my Fujifilm X100V. I brought a variety of films, all of the Portra stocks, some HP5, and Fuji Veliva and Provia films.
