Wildwood, New Jersey
I finally got a chance to shoot more for this series. I have been wanting to go to Wildwood NJ for a while now. I made a couple trips out there a few years ago when I lived in Philly. When I got back into shooting film and medium format, I made it a priority to revisit this location.
I wanted to go during the off-season so that people weren't around and for the weather to be a little more pleasant. The winter has been pretty brutal and long this year and I was only able to find time to go last week. Hopefully I can make it out again before memorial day weekend.
This town is a lot nicer than what I remembered it to be. It has a very old school feel to it. It's almost stuck in time and I think they keep it that way so it doesn't loose its character. Its design and motif is very 1950s or 1960s (those time periods blur to me) and I am glad a lot of the buildings have maintained that look.
I was only able to shoot for an afternoon. Hopefully I get to go back because if not, I probably won't go until after summer. The photographs were made with a Mamiya 7II and I used a 80mm lens. I have been shooting more with this lens. It's a phenomenal lens, I really like the focal length. I have been sticking with this focal length for the past shoots I have been doing. It gives my work a little more cohesiveness.
One last thing, I have started selling prints on my website. I plan on adding a new print every week. Most of them will be 11x14 and printed by me. Old school darkroom prints. Prints here!
