Another California location. I used to live in San Francisco when I moved to the US. I have family in San Diego and I visit a couple of times a year. When I go, I make a point to shoot. There’s a lot of open spaces and a great variety of landscapes.
This was taken close to my mom’s place. The location is a hiking path that runs through Sorrento Valley and Carmel Valley, and runs along Penasquito's Creek. These photos were shot in February of 2017. The landscape is usually a lot browner, however it rains a lot more during the winter and that turns the area to a deep green.
I shot this with my Mamiya 7II and I used Kodak Ektar for the first time. I usually like my photos with less saturation and more natural hues. But I decided to try Ektar so that I could bring out more saturation of the greens and other colors. I am pretty pleased with the results. Portra is still my go-to color film but once in a while the landscape lends itself to a more vibrant film. Again these were scanned with my Epson V600. I feel that I have been getting better and more consistent results with my scans. I scan the images with a flat profile and edit to my taste on Lightroom. I added more saturation than I usually do since I am shooting with Ektar. It may be a little heavy handed but it's kind of truer to what I was seeing with my own eyes.
